Charles Hsu, PhD, MBA, is a Venture Partner with Bay City Capital and has been with the firm since 2005.  Dr. Hsu has over 25 years of experience in the life sciences industry, including 20 years as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist. Prior to joining Bay City he was a General Partner at Walden International and, before that, a Partner at Advent International. He has co-founded and/or invested in almost 30 companies, including Alpha Beta, AutoImmune, DNX, Axys Pharmaceuticals, KOSAN, Urocor, Lexicon Genetics, Telik, Biomatrix, RPI, Vanguard Medica, NeuroGesX and Aviron, all of which went public on NASDAQ.  Dr. Hsu has long been active internationally. He was affiliated with a number of Israeli VC funds including Gemini (during his tenure at Advent) and Walden Israel II and III.  He has been involved as founder, investor, director and/or advisor with companies in Israel (including Orgenics, Intelligene and D-Pharm) and Greater China (including Asia Renal Care, Mindray, Eureka, ProGenTech, LEAD Therapeutics and Wuxi Pharmatech). Dr. Hsu serves on the Board of the Jacobs University Foundation and is an advisor to the Chinese American Biopharmaceutical Society.

He holds his PhD in Genetics and his MBA from Stanford University, and an AB degree (Magna cum Laude) in Biochemistry from Harvard.
