David Milligan, PhD is a Principal at Bay City Capital and has been with the firm since its formation in June 1997. He began his career at 3M Company in 1967 and retired from Abbott Laboratories at the end of 1996 as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. During his 17 years there, he led the Diagnostic Products R&D organization and later assumed responsibility for global pharmaceutical R&D. Prior to joining Abbott, Dr. Milligan also held a variety of key management positions with Xonics Medical Systems, Litton Dental Products, and Litton Medical Systems as well as 3M Company. Dr. Milligan is Vice Chairman of the board of directors for Caliper Life Sciences, and serves on the boards of Pathway Diagnostics and WebLOQ. In addition, Dr. Milligan is a member of Princeton University's Chemistry Department Advisory Board as well as the Chemical Sciences Leadership Council of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Milligan received MS and PhD degrees in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois, graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with an AB in Chemistry.
