
Richard Lerner, MD is the Chairman of Bay City Capital's Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Lerner has a 30-year career in biomedical research notable for its broad scope in several diverse areas. He is perhaps most well known for his innovative work of converting antibodies into enzymes, permitting the catalysis of chemical reactions considered impossible to achieve by classical chemical procedures. Concurrent with his research, Dr. Lerner directs all the scientific activities of The Scripps Research Institute as its President, a position he's held since 1986. He has received numerous honors, including election to the National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and receipt of the Wolf Prize in Chemistry.
